Hey everyone….It has been awhile
Where have I been? I’ve been working behind the scenes on the lonely Roy comic special, Roys return to smash story of course
Please read these comments, I want to explain afew things
I have also been posting simple drawings once a week on my alt 3DS
account “Lonely Roy”
I made this alt account for my followers to enjoy while they wait for
the comic special
I assure you that the alt account does NOT distract or take time away
from comic development. I used to post simple drawings like those
everyday on Sakurai’s POTD back in 2014. So one a week doesn’t take much
time to do
So why has it been so long to make this one? You may ask. (Ether
politely or rudely)
Well, the Lonely Roy comic series is known as an “episodic” series. This
is where each comic has the characters in different situations each
episode. This way is a lot easier to make each week.
The comic specials like Lucas’ return story and the Roy return story
being made, is a “Serial” series. This is where one big story is told
over multiple episodes or parts.
This way needs more attention to detail and time to make as one part
being wrong could ruin the story being told.
This is why I’m taking extra care on this project
BUT WAIT!! You say in disbelief! The Lucas special didn’t take THIS long
to make! What’s the deal with Roy’s one!
True…
But Lucas was a minor character in the series. As he was unable to
communicate due to being in a coma, he didn’t interact with many
characters.
And his return to smash didn’t affect the series much at all. Now Roy
however…
Roy is a different story
He is the main character of the series and has pretty much interacted
with all the characters in the series
His character returning to smash effects the series and its characters
in a MASSIVE way and was quite a challenge to write his story
If Lucas’ return story is considered a TV special, then the Roy return
story would be Lonely Roy The first Movie: Roy Strikes Back
Sometimes things dont go to plan, sometimes you run into a problem and
it can be fixed, and other times you have to scrap it and start over.
This is one reason why its taking longer.
There is a lot of pressure to do this story right, I dont want to upset
long-time fans of the comic so a lot of care is going into this project
There have been a lot of challenges with backgrounds.
Some new locations that appear in this story don’t have stages that fit perfectly, so a lot of tweaking and editing is needed
It takes me awhile to design backgrounds since they are more realistic and im not good in the architecture area
Even with backgrounds that seem simple, like the background used in part 1 as seen here take time to make
They still have a lot of detail and time put into them…
Here is the background before the characters and dialogue bubbles are added…
And here is the screenshot before it was painted… surprising how much of it was painted huh?
And a shame most of the finished background was covered up. its a lot of work, but it has to be done
Paint app is a challenge too. Theres no zoom, so its hard to draw and
write small.
The quality also lowers every time you re-save a pic!
The pic gets blurrier and greener each time as seen in this screenshot

For the comic each layer is done in one save. BG, Characters, dialogue
last to stop unreadable blur. If I dont have lots of time,its hard to

Notice the series of numbers and letters.
You cant save custom colours, so this is the way I note of how I made
those colours. So if I need these colours, I follow the notes to make
them again
Like coordinates pointing to treasure on a map, but instead of
treasure.. its a colour
This is why I say colour pallets take time; all the characters in the
comic have thes
I hope this was an intresting look into how the comics are made, lotta of work huh?
Writing, Comic Artist, Character Design, Storyboarding, Background design, Colour design and Direction..
Im the only guy doing all these jobs and not all of them are fun or easy for me
But I want this comic project to be the BEST I can make it…and if it means more time is needed, so be it
So… What is the plan Archdan? You may ask. We understand the time and
effort after reading all that but…
Can you give us an idea when we will see it?
Well… as ive said in small updates in the comments of my alt lonely roys

The script and character designs/pallets are done, some backrounds are
done, and im up to storyboarding it out (sketches of comics) after that
its on to colour
So heres the Plan…
You guys have been waiting so patiently (well.. those of you still here)
thanks for that.
So I plan to work on getting the FIRST HALF of the episodes out sooner
Once started, one ep will be posted each week.
But don’t get too excited! Because once all of those episodes in that
half are posted,I will need to go back to work on the other half,so you
will have to wait awile again
I dont have a date, I dont want to rush the project to meet a deadline
I promise this, I will alert you when the comics are starting again in the future
If you want to help me, just keeping me in your follows helps,would be sad if I released this story to find everyone left
